Hello from Eliza
I’m Eliza Fern, the kettle-starter of YOUR-CUP-OF-TEA.COM. This site began from a spill, a sigh, and a planner soaked with rooibos and to-do lists. Those pages held scribbled recipes I made up during quiet lunches between spreadsheets and meetings that should’ve been emails. One wet notebook later, I realized those blends brought me more joy than any spreadsheet ever could.

I didn’t build this space overnight. YOUR-CUP-OF-TEA.COM grew slowly, like a sun-warmed chamomile plant pushing through the dirt. The idea wasn’t to build an empire. It was to share warm cups and cozy flavors, minus all the snobbery you sometimes get with tea talk.
This isn’t a fancy lab or five-star café. My tea corner lives in a small apartment kitchen with chipped mugs, open windows, and at least four tea strainers that always seem to disappear. This is where ideas steep.
What’s This Place All About?
YOUR-CUP-OF-TEA.COM shares tea blends that feel like a hug. You’ll find quirky, comforting recipes with names like “Book Nook Mint” or “Sunset Sweetgrass.” I mix odd things together, rose petals with black pepper, honey with dried figs because I like being surprised by what works. And sometimes by what definitely doesn’t.
Each recipe comes with a little story. Not every one is about deep meaning or long heritage. Some just came from boredom, or rainy afternoons, or songs I couldn’t get out of my head. Tea shouldn’t feel like homework. It should feel like a break.
You’ll also catch the occasional guide, like how to dry herbs at home without turning your oven into a sauna or how to tell if you’ve oversteeped your poor oolong again. It happens.
🌱 Where The Recipes Come From
My blends begin with whatever’s on the shelf. Loose leaves, spices, dried fruit, even a forgotten candy cane from December. If I think it might go in a mug, I try it. Sometimes it’s a flop, sometimes magic.
I keep a tea journal with little circles around the good ones and sticky notes for the “maybe next time” crowd. I don’t follow strict rules, and I never pretend to be an expert. I’m just someone who fell in love with mixing flavors and found peace in watching steam curl upward from a mug.
Some teas reflect seasons. Others mirror moods. There’s one called “Don’t Talk To Me” made with bitter orange peel and extra-strong black tea. You can guess when I drink that one.
Why Tea?
Tea makes you slow down. You can’t really rush it. You boil the water, you wait, you pour, you steep, you sit. Then you sip. Sometimes that’s all you need, to slow everything just enough to remember you’re human.
I tried coffee. I still do when sleep hasn’t visited. But tea speaks a different language. It’s softer, somehow. Even the bold teas don’t shout. They nudge. They suggest. They wrap around you.
Making tea isn’t just about drinking something warm. It’s about the pause it forces you to take. The ritual of it. The comfort of a favorite cup. The small joy of blending something that tastes like your mood.
Not Just Leaves in Water
Some folks think tea’s just dusty leaves in a bag. But no, tea is potential. You get to create. You get to choose: hot or cold, sweet or tart, calm or kick-you-awake strong.
There’s one recipe I keep coming back to, made with hibiscus, dried mango, and a pinch of cracked cardamom. It tastes like childhood summers and grown-up worries taking a break. That’s the fun part. Each cup is a chance to try again.
I love playing with ingredients no one expects. Basil in green tea. Dried pineapple with smoked lapsang. I don’t always succeed, but I always have fun. If you're here, I’m guessing you’re that kind of curious too.
Who Is This For?
This space welcomes the tea curious, the tea tired, the tea lovers, and even the tea skeptics. If you’ve ever thought, “What if I added cinnamon to my Earl Grey?”, this place is for you.
You don’t need fancy tools. You don’t need to know what terroir means. You don’t need to use a scale. If you’ve got water, a mug, something vaguely leaf-ish, and a sense of adventure, you’re in.
YOUR-CUP-OF-TEA.COM is for anyone looking for warmth in a cup. Whether you’re just starting or you’ve memorized the exact second your jasmine is ready, you’re welcome here.
Fails Happen (And That’s Okay)
I’ve made some weird cups. Like one that turned green from blueberries and looked like swamp water. Or the time I used garlic powder instead of ginger. Please don’t do that.
Mistakes are part of the fun. Half my blends come from an accident or a guess. I’ve reused a tea bag three times and still loved it. I’ve forgotten to strain out cloves and nearly choked. All part of the learning.
Here’s the truth: nobody gets it perfect every time. Even tea companies test batches dozens of times. Here, we celebrate the weird, the wobbly, the “whoops” cups. Sometimes those are the best ones.
A Little Tea Knowledge
Every now and then, I share bits of info I’ve picked up. Like why green tea hates boiling water or what caffeine actually does in different leaves. Not too science-y. Just enough to help things taste better.
You’ll learn how long to steep, what to avoid, how to store your leaves so they don’t taste like cupboard air. No gatekeeping. Just simple stuff that makes your cup nicer.
I like learning alongside you. I read, I sip, I write it down. Then I pass it along. Think of me like your tea buddy who writes down all the notes so you don’t have to.
Coming Soon: A Tiny Shop
I’m working on a little shop, nothing huge. Just a place to share small-batch blends made in my kitchen. I’ll let you know when it’s ready, but it’s taking time because I want it to feel right.
There might be sampler boxes with silly names. Or little recipe cards. Maybe even mugs with “Cozy Chaos” written on them. I like the idea of sending a bit of this joy to your home.
If you want to be part of that, sign up for updates. No spam. Just tea love in your inbox once in a while.
Staying In Touch
Want to say hi? Ask a question? Share your own weird-but-good blend? I’m always happy to chat. You can send me a message through contact@your-cup-of-tea.com. I reply as fast as I can, usually with a cup in hand.
I also post new stuff on the site a few times a month. Nothing overwhelming. Just recipes, ideas, tea stories. Things that make life a little cozier.
If you like calm corners of the internet where people sip slowly and type gently, you’ll like it here.
Thanks for stopping by my little tea nook. Whether you’re here for recipes, laughs, or just curious about what happens when you steep lavender and lime peel together (answer: something odd but good), I’m glad you came.
Tea brings people together. Even strangers feel familiar over mugs. So maybe this website is more than recipes. Maybe it’s a place for calm, creativity, and quiet celebration of small joys.
Hope your kettle’s always warm, your leaves always fragrant, and your heart always open to trying one more blend.
