Ingredients

  • 6 eggs
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon black tea leaves
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 piece star anise
  • 1 piece orange peel
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions 

  1. 1. Boil the eggs for 10 minutes.
  2. 2. Remove eggs and cool under cold water.
  3. 3. Gently crack the eggshells all over.
  4. 4. In a pot, add water, soy sauce, tea leaves, cinnamon, star anise, orange peel, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  5. 5. Add the cracked eggs to the pot and simmer for 1 hour.
  6. 6. Let the eggs steep in the liquid for a few hours or overnight for more flavor.
