Ingredients 

Crumpets

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Warm milk
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Active dry yeast
  • ½ cup Warm water
  • As needed Butter for greasing

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. 2. Add warm milk, flour, salt, and baking powder to the yeast mixture. Whisk until smooth.
  3. 3. Cover the bowl and let the batter rest for 30 minutes.
  4. 4. Heat a griddle over medium heat and grease it with butter.
  5. 5. Pour batter into crumpet rings on the griddle. Cook until bubbles form and the tops are set, about 5 minutes. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. 6. Serve warm with butter and jam, alongside a cup of tea.
