Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 gallon water
  • 8 bags black or green tea
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup starter tea or vinegar
  • 1 SCOBY kombucha culture

Instructions 

  1. Boil the water in a pot.
  2. Add the tea bags and let steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove tea bags and stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  4. Let the sweet tea cool to room temperature.
  5. Pour the cooled tea into a 1-gallon glass jar.
  6. Add the starter tea or vinegar.
  7. Gently place the SCOBY into the jar.
  8. Cover the jar with a breathable cloth and secure with a rubber band.
  9. Let ferment for 7-10 days, tasting periodically.
