English Tea Ring

Ingredients 

Dough

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • ½ cup Milk warmed
  • ¼ cup Butter melted
  • 1 Egg beaten

Filling

  • ¼ cup Butter softened
  • ½ cup Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
  • ½ cup Chopped nuts

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, yeast, and sugar.
  2. 2. Add warm milk, melted butter, and beaten egg. Mix well.
  3. 3. Gradually add the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  4. 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled.
  6. 6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over the dough.
  7. 7. Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts over the butter.
  8. 8. Roll up the dough tightly and form into a ring. Place on a baking sheet.
  9. 9. Make cuts around the ring, about 1 inch apart. Let rise again until doubled.
  10. 10. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
